As part of this semester's seminar in "Innovation and Technology Financing", organized by Hon.-Prof. Dr. Ing. Gerhard Plasonig in cooperation with the corporate partner Festo and the Chairs of Entrepreneurial Finance, 16 Master students joined a 4-day field to Cambridge (UK) last week. During the trip the students have had the possibility to meet up with a number of professionals from the field of innovation, technology, and financing as Dr. Peter F. Hewkin from the Centre for Business Innovation, Dr. David Stillwell, Deputy Director of The Psychometrics Centre at the University of Cambridge and Dr. Uday Phadke, Chief Executive of Cartezia. The intensive discussions did not only cover the technological, innovation, and entrepreneurial landscape of Cambridge and its University, the students have also been introduced to the concrete topic of their final seminar papers: "Evaluating the Blockchain Technology in the Machine Tool Industry". Together with experts from PwC they discussed possible applications of the Blockchain Technology as well as potential advantages and disadvantages of its use and implications for the players in the machine tool industry. Finally, the group joined a Cambridge college tour to get to know the University, its history, and the local environment.
