The main research areas of Prof. Maume (b. 1978) are the law of business entities and financial markets regulation. He is particularly interested in  the influence of technology on the financial markets (fintech regulation). In this area he has been advising the German Federal Government and the European Parliament. He has published in top-tier law journals in Germany (ZHR, ZGR, NJW), in the EU (EBLR, EBOR, JCLS, ECFR), in the US (Chic. J. Int. Law, Tex. Int. Law J.) and in Australasia (NZULR, NZLR, CSLJ). His works have been referred to in more than 40 German court decisions, including the Federal Court of Justice (Bundesgerichtshof) and the Federal Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht), and by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

He is the editor-in-chief of one of the leading German law journals on banking and capital markets law (Zeitschrift für Bank- und Kapitalmarktrecht, BKR) and co-editor of the only German law journal on family firms (Zeitschrift für das Recht der Familienunternehmen, RFamU). Prof. Maume is also a member of the TUM Blockchain Research Cluster..

Prof. Maume studied law at Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg (Germany) and at La Trobe University Melbourne (Australia). After his practical legal training at the Higher Regional Court Karlsruhe he joined TUM School of Management as a Senior Researcher (Akademischer Rat) in 2005. In 2009 he was awarded a Doctor of Laws (Dr. iur.) by the University of Augsburg. In 2010 Prof. Maume moved to Australia for a research project on information rights and corporate law. In 2013 he was awarded a Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) by La Trobe University, Melbourne.  During his candidature he was a sessional staff member at La Trobe University School of Law, and a research assistant at Monash University Department of Business Law and Taxation, Melbourne.

In October 2013 he was appointed as an Assistant Professor (W2 teure track) for Corporate Governance and Capital Markets Law at TUM School of Management. In October 2019 he was promoted to Associate Professor (W3 with tenure).
