CEFS alumna Prof. Dr. Barbara Scheck joins NYU faculty


We are thrilled to announce that CEFS alumna Prof. Dr. Barbara Scheck has been appointed as Clinical Associate Professor of Management at Stern Business School at NYU Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). Prof. Scheck was a Research Assistant at the Chair of Entrepreneurial Finance at TUM, where she earned her PhD under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dr. Ann-Kristin Achleitner. During her PhD, she developed the Social Reporting Standard, a reporting framework for stakeholders in the social sector that has since become a pillar of impact measurement and reporting. She continued to work for Allianz SE before joining University of Hamburg as Assistant Professor for Social Investment. Since 2016, she had been tenured as a Professor of Entrepreneurship at Munich Business School (MBS) in Munich (Germany). Prof. Scheck holds a Diplôme de Grande Ecole and MSc from the European School of Management, along with a Bachelor in Public Administration from the University of the German Foreign Office. Her work is centered around the financing of social innovation, impact and mission-related investing, and impact measurement and management. In addition to her academic achievements, Prof. Scheck has contributed her expertise to various organisations, including the German Foreign Office, Credit Suisse, and BonVenture. She co-founded and serves as the managing director of the European Center for Social Finance in Munich (Germany), providing advisory services to the European Commission, European impact investors and intermediaries.

Professor Scheck will commence her new role at NYUAD in January 2025, where she has already been a Visiting Professor since 2022.
