Research Assistant (f/m/d) – Blockchain / Web3 (DeFi)

The Professorship of Entrepreneurial Finance at TUM’s School of Management is looking for a part-time (8hrs/week) Research Assistant (f/m/d). As a Research Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our cutting-edge research projects related to blockchain systems and Web3. This opportunity offers flexible hours and allows you to balance your other commitments while contributing to groundbreaking research.

Expected Starting Date: As soon as possible.

Duration: 6 month with a possible extension

Our research focus:

The primary research interests at the newly established Professorship of Entrepreneurial Finance of Prof. Dr. Dr. Paul P. Momtaz are how entrepreneurial finance is shaped by decentralized markets, platforms, and organizations (often related to crypto and blockchain). The research focuses on value creation, appropriation, and competition in decentralized settings, and empirically assesses the aggregate efficiency of decentralized markets. we currently look at phenomena, such as DeFi, digital assets, tokenization, Web3, private equity and venture capital, and ESG / sustainability. Our research approach is eclectic and we publish research in the top-tier journals across disciplines, including Finance, Entrepreneurship, Management, and Statistiscs. Our research has received numerous awards.

Your tasks:

§  Handle and analyze large datasets related to blockchain transactions, smart contracts, and other relevant information.

§  Perform data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation to ensure data accuracy and consistency.

Your profile:

§  Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in information technology, computer science, data cience or related disciplines.

§  Proven experience in working with blockchain systems and understanding their technical aspects.

§  Experience in handling large datasets using programming languages like Python, or similar.

§  Highly motivated and keen on working in an international and interdisciplinary team

  • Fluency in spoken and written English

Payment will be based on the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service of the Länder (TV-L) and the offered position is limited to 8 hours per week and initially limited to 6 months contract duration. Further employment is possible upon satisfactory performance.
