Final thesis

What is a final thesis?

At the end of their studies, every student writes a final thesis. Depending on the type of thesis, students have either 3 months (Bachelor) or 6 months (Master) to complete their thesis work. The final thesis is intended to give students a deeper insight into research activities, teach them to work scientifically and to focus on a current business problem or research question. Theses can also be written together with corporate partners. Ideally, the chosen research topic relates to the Chair of Corporate Management’s main research fields – Sustainability, Human Resources or Family Enterprises.

Your benefit as a company

  • Scientific approach to problem solving
  • Working on topics for which there are few resources available in day-to-day business
  • Exchange of expertise between business and research
  • Opportunity to steer current research
  • Valuable contact to committed students and promising talents

How does it work?

As a company, you mentor students throughout their final thesis research. At the same time, students have a supervisor from our chair who provides additional support, especially regarding scientific working practices. After completion, the final thesis is graded by the chair. Thus, keeping in touch with both sides is essential.

Proposed thesis topics should go beyond practice-oriented problems and also represent a general class of scientifically-relevant problems. Hence, before signing the contract with an interested student, the topic should be agreed upon between the student, the corporate partner, and the student’s supervisor at the chair.

If a joint final thesis is of interest to you and your company, please do not hesitate to contact us (office.cm@mgt.tum.de). If the topic proposal fits our chair’s profile, we will present your topic on our homepage, so that students can apply for it.
